The Waringham Chronicles, Volume 1: The Runaway by Rebecca Gablé

England in the 14th Century. Twelve-year-old Robin’s world is turned upside down when his father, the Earl of Waringham, dies in disgrace. His inheritance lost and his family name dishonoured, the penniless Robin must begin a new life as a peasant on his own estate.

I loved this audio drama. I thought The Scarlet City trilogy audiobooks by the same author were amazing so expected something similar with The Waringham Chronicles. I got exactly that. The quality is impressive, Margolyes is one of my favourite actresses and her narration is spot on. The full cast playing the different characters were amazing as well. This is exactly what an audio drama should be and much more immersive than listening to a recording of a print book. There are a lot of dark moments in The Runaway and things get pretty intense. I got submerged in the world, plot and characters. I loved it.
