Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie

Journey to the Neverland in a new drama of J.M. Barrie’s magical masterpiece.

This enchanting adaptation of the enduring story of the boy who never grows up, produced in association with Great Ormond Street Hospital, stars Rupert Everett as the villainous Captain Hook and Adeel Akhtar as his right-hand man Smee. Beloved by both children and adults alike, the entire family will be transported to a world made of faith, trust, and pixie dust.

I realised, when I started to listen to this, that although I’m familiar with the story and am a big fan, I’ve never read the original book. I’ve become aware of Peter Pan, Wendy, Hook and The Lost Boys through adaptations such as the movie Hook and the Disney cartoon and re-telling’s in novels. This threw me as I was sure I’d read the actual book. This is a great adaptation. The versions I’ve seen / read are very close to the original story so I knew what would happen and would things would lead. This didn’t spoil the story though, as the adaptation was so good. This was a pleasure to listen to.

I live in Glasgow in the UK with my partner. I work in the Financial Services. I like reading especially Joyce Carol Oates and Stephen King. I write fiction and poetry. I enjoy watching TV (Grimm, Torchwood, Doctor Who, Lip Service, The L Word etc). I like to play video games and am a fan of survival horror especially the Silent Hill franchise. I like to watch movies especially horror and anything where someone dies.
