UP NEXT IN THE STEPHEN KING PROJECT: CUJO

13 Nov

The next novel I plan to read as part of my Stephen King Project is Cujo.

Cujo is one of his earlier books. I’ve read it a few times.

INTERESTING FACTS:

> Cujo won the British Fantasy Award in 1982

> Cujo was adapted for the screen in 1983 starring Dee Wallace Stone. The ending is different from the novel

> Cuji is set in Castle Rock, Maine. This town features in many of King’s works including IT and Needful Things

> Cujo is linked to King’s novel The Dead Zone through the psychotic killer cop Frank Dodd

> Cujo’s name was based on the nom de guerre of Willie Wolfe who was one of them who orchestrated the kidnapping and brainwashing of Patty Hearst

> King is famously quoted as saying he has no memory of writing Cujo because he was off his face on drugs and alcohol at the time

> Cuji is referenced in other works by King including Pet Semetary and The Dark Half

I’ve read cujo and honestly, I found it somewhat disappointing. It’s a sensitive story, but if KIng calls that horror I would beg to disagree. Not that I like only evil dead kinda stuff, but Cujo wasn’t to my taste.
